Is it really free?
Yes. There is no trial, no watermark and nothing to sign up for. It costs us nothing to run, because it runs on your device and not on our servers, and that is the whole reason it can be free.
Which crop shape should I pick?
Under Crop, Auto keeps the shape your picture already has and Free lets you drag any shape you like. The fixed ones are the shapes that screens and feeds ask for: 1:1 for a profile picture or a product tile, 4:5 and 9:16 for posts and stories, 16:9 for video and banners.
What does the Auto button under Adjust do?
It reads the picture and sets the light and the white balance to a sensible starting point. Nothing it does is final: every slider it moved can be moved again by hand, and Reset all puts everything back.
Which format should I download?
PNG keeps every pixel and keeps transparency, which suits logos and anything you will edit again. JPG makes a much smaller file for a photograph. WEBP is smaller still and opens in every current browser.
Does it change my original file?
No. The editor works on a copy inside the page. Your original stays exactly as it was, and what you download is a new file.
